Gaztelueta – What Nanotechnology is?
On December 13th 1º Bachillerato IB students attended a talk on Nanotechnology. The speaker was Mr. Antonio Porro, PhD and researcher of Tecnalia, a Technology Corporation set up in 2001 with the principal aim of contributing towards the development of the economic and social environment by means of the use and promotion of Technological Innovation through the development and dissemination of Research in an international context. Firstly Mr Porro explained us the fields in which nanotechnology takes part in such as biology, physics, chemistry. Later we were explained the history of nanotechnology, realizing it is much older than we thought. In fact it was invented during the first decades of the 20th Century. The speaker told us about the involvements it has in our everyday life that is more important than we usually think. Finally Mr Porro ended by showing us the brilliant future nanotechnology will bring. We definitely enjoyed the meeting as well as the interesting Power Point he prepared for the session, and we are willing to see the changes he mentioned as soon as possible.
